Each Zona Cup qualifying event is viewed as a stand alone tournament. As such, any player can participate with any team, at any event, assuming they have been released from the previous team they participated with. Please note the below conditions and ramifications before choosing to switch teams.
Individual Player Movements
- All roster movements are final. If a player leaves one team to join another, they may not participate with the prior team for the remainder of the 2024 qualifier season or the Zona Cup Finals.
- Once a player has joined and participated with a team at a qualifier event, that player is now locked onto that team's roster. The only way a player can leave that roster is for that team to release the player
- If the first team chooses to release said player, they are then locked onto the next team's roster they played with. If that team chooses to release the player, they are then locked onto the next team they participated with.
- Example: A player joins Club Y at one event, but wishes to leave Club Y to go to Club Z for their next event (pending release). After this move, that player is now on Club Z's roster for Zona Cup Finals. That player may not leave Club Z at another event, and go back to Club Y nor can that player participate with Club Y at the Zona Cup Finals. Additionally that player may leave Club Z to participate with yet another team during the season (pending release), but again may not return back to Club Z's or Club Y's roster for the remainder of the season or at Zona Cup Finals.
- For a player to move to a new team, their prior team must release that player from their existing roster. It is advised that any player wishing to make a roster move secure a release ahead of time from their original team. Roster releases can be done immediately following each event, using the Roster Release form on the IHAAZ site. Before joining a team, a player should discuss what that team or clubs roster release policy is. IHAAZ cannot force or implore a team to release a player for any reason.
Roster Movements within the same club or organization
- In the event a program has multiple teams in the same age group, a players may be moved from one roster to the other one time and still be allowed back onto the first roster, pending their participation with the first team at another qualifier event.
- Example: A player participates with Team Y in their program for the first two qualifier events, but is moved onto Team Z for the third event. That player is then needed to go back to Team Y for the 4th event and Zona Cup Finals. This would be allowed, however if Team Y did not play the 4th event they would still be locked onto Team Z's roster.
