Looking to join IHAAZ?
There are plenty of existing IHAAZ clubs and teams looking for players. Please make sure to check out the Player Connection to see if there's a team who could use you. If you find yourself with a full team of players and want to join as a team, the process is fairly easy. Below is a check list to get you started.
- BUILD YOUR ROSTER - An ideal roller hockey roster consists of 8 players and a goalie. With 4 on 4 play and shorter games (2 x 12 minute stop time periods), there's plenty of playing time for everyone with two lines of 4 skaters. If you have potential conflicts or commitments, you can roster up to 14 players (including goalies). We recommend you have a second goalie rostered (and qualified at some point in the season) if you plan on participating in the Zona Cup State Finals tournament, as all players (including goalies) must qualify. For more information make sure to read through the 2025 Age Groups, Divisions page as well as the 2025 Zona Cup Finals Qualification Rules.
- SECURE A COACH AND MANAGER- All teams are required to have a coach on the bench at all times. This individual must be 18 years or older, and cannot be be a participating player on your roster or any other. Although there is not certification required to be a coach for an IHAAZ team, some general knowledge of the game, rules, and strategies of ice and/or roller hockey is recommended. In addition to the a coach, many teams also designate a manager to handle the teams organization, fee collections, registration, etc. Note that all coaches who will be on the bench during games must complete a an IHAAZ waiver as well as register for with RHA insurance for the season (see below).
- SET YOUR SCHEDULE - Once you have your team set, and have a coach (and if needed team manager), it's time to plan which IHAAZ events you want to participate in. A full list of IHAAZ dates and locations can be found here: 2025 Events/Venues. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with our 2025 Zona Cup Finals Qualification Rules if your team plans on participating in that event.
- CHOOSE A TEAM NAME AND ORDER UNIFORMS - All IHAAZ teams must have matching and (permanently) numbered jerseys. Matching pants are also encouraged but not required. The official uniform supplier of IHAAZ is True Threds, who has sponsored the IHAAZ series over the recent years, providing thousands of dollars in All Star Jerseys and Championship Banners. For more info on True Threds and uniforms click here: Uniforms
- RHA INSURANCE - Each player and coach must have a 2025 Roller Hockey Alliance membership in order to be added to your roster. Click HERE to learn more about RHA and for info on how to complete a player registration. Any player without a verified RHA membership may not play. Verification of all players RHA membership will be done 48 hours prior to the first day of an event. Any player without an active RHA membership will be removed from the roster until such time as a membership can be confirmed.
- WAIVER FORM: All rostered players, goalies, and coaching staff must complete the 2022 Waiver and Code of Conduct form. Verification of all players having submitted their waiver form will be done 48 hours prior to the first day of an event. Any player or coach without a completed waiver will be removed from the roster until such time as a completed a waiver submission can be confirmed. The waiver can be accessed by clicking HERE
